The Sunrise Orchid Society began as an idea
to provide the west Broward area with a place for amateur growers and people, just
interested in the growing of orchids, to meet and exchange ideas, listen to more
experienced growers and learn how to grow and exhibit better plants.
Three individuals are credited for the creation of Sunrise Orchid Society
in February 1985. Cindy Johanczik,
Walt Green, Mike Szulczewski the founding president of our society.
Our membership has been growing and at present we are around 100 members. As a society we participated and exhibited
with success in many orchid shows.
You can see us in the 4th of July
Sunrise
parade. We have rambles to take us
to shows and visit growers.
There are many good reasons to become a member. As a member you are eligible for our
monthly nametag plant drawing, where you can win an Orchid! Membership includes access to our library, our monthly newsletter and access to our generously
discounted holiday dinner. Members also receive a gift orchid plant in December.
Of course, you also get to meet new friends and learn all about orchids. Members
may bring plants to place in our friendly competition on the ‘Show and Tell’
table at our monthly meetings
Not to forget interesting and knowledgeable
speakers who provide plants to be won in a raffle.
